The Oak Bay Police Department responded to 60 calls for service this week.
Prohibited Driver
On March 22nd at 8:47 PM, OBPD conducted traffic enforcement on Cadboro Bay Rd near Hibbens Close. An officer observed a vehicle traveling southbound on Cadboro Bay Rd at an estimated speed of 65 kph. The driver failed to produce a valid BCDL, and an ICBC search revealed that his BCDL status was on hold. Police served the driver a Notice of Prohibition for 4 months and issued a Violation Ticket for failing to produce a driver’s license. (File 25-706)
Fraud
On March 27, 2025, at 12:17 PM, Oak Bay Police were alerted to a fraud in progress in the 2000 block of Cadboro Bay Rd. Bank staff reported that a woman had presented a suspicious passport while attempting to open a bank account. Police examined the passport and determined it was false. The 29-year-old woman was arrested for obstructing a peace officer and subsequently released on an Undertaking with a future court date. This file remains under investigation. (File 25-736)
Excessive Speed
On March 29, 2025, at 10:26 PM, an officer was conducting speed enforcement along Beach Drive when he observed a vehicle traveling 45 kph over the speed limit. The vehicle was impounded, and a Violation Ticket was issued to the driver for excessive speed. (File 25-755)
