On January 20th the Oak Bay Police received a report of a theft of a donation box from a local business on Oak Bay Avenue. The female suspect was captured on the surveillance camera and the investigation is ongoing to identify the suspect.
On January 21st the Oak Bay Police received a report of a stolen vehicle in the 2200 block of Windsor Road. The owner of the vehicle was in possession of the keys. On January 25th the vehicle was recovered in the Municipality of Saanich and the Saanich Forensic Identification Section is processing the vehicle for fingerprints.
On January 22nd, the Oak Bay Police received a report of a theft of a 6 hp Yamaha outboard motor from the Oak Bay Marina. The file is still under investigation.
On January 23rd, the Oak Bay Police responded to a hit & run in the 1500 block of Beach Drive where the suspect fled the scene. Witnesses were able to obtain the licence plate of the fleeing vehicle. The unoccupied parked vehicle that was hit sustained significant damage and most likely will be write-off. Police members attended the address of the fleeing vehicle and a struggle ensued between the female driver and police officers. The driver was transported to the hospital for a medical assessment. The driver is being criminally charged for Assaulting a Police Officer, Fail to Provide a Blood Sample and Hit & Run. If you witnessed this hit and run contact the primary investigator Cst. On January 24th, the Oak Bay Police Department issued a violation ticket to a male who was consuming liquor in a public place. The male was requested to stop consuming liquor yet the male chose to continue drinking in the presence of the officer. The fine was $230.00
On January 26th, the Oak Bay Police received a break and enter at an apartment complex in the 1100 block of Newport Avenue. A briefcase and a bicycle was stolen from the storage locker. The investigation is ongoing to identify the suspects.
