Weekly Media Release July 27-Aug 2, 2015

On July 27th there was a theft of tools from a house under construction on San Carlos Ave.  A white pickup truck was seen leaving the area around 4 am, however no suspects have yet been identified. Investigation is ongoing.

On July 29th there was an attempted break and enter to a house in the 2200 block of Kinross Ave, however there are no suspects.

On July 30th a motorist was stopped for excessive speeding on Foul Bay Rd, doing 97kmh in a 50kmh zone. The driver was issued a $368 violation ticket for excessive speed, and the driver’s vehicle was impounded for 7 days.

On the 31st of July a driver was stopped during a “Counter Attack” check stop on Cadboro Bay Rd.  The driver failed the roadside screen device resulting in the driver receiving a 90 day driving prohibition and having their car impounded for 30 days.

Phone fraudsters have been making phone calls to Oak Bay residents; however no money was lost. For members of the public who received what they believe to be fraudulent phone calls, they are encouraged to report the incident to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre (CAFC) at 1-888-495-8501, and to the OBPD.
