On June 12th, police responded to Cattle Point to assist with some boaters that were in trouble at the Cattle Point boat ramp. Boat and occupants were caught up against the rocks due to the high winds. Boat and occupants were assisted without injury.
On June 12th, police responded to a break and enter in the 3400 block of Cadboro Bay Rd that happened over the weekend. It appears entry was made through an older style garage door and approximately $20,000 of property was stolen from within. The vehicle was also stolen at the time of the break in but has since been recovered.
On June 14th, police responded to a break and enter in the 3000 block of Exeter Rd. Entry was gained by using the hidden key left outside and approximately $1000 in tools were stolen. Police want to remind people not to hide keys outside where people can find them. On June 14th, police attended the 2300 blk of Hamiota for a motor vehicle theft that had just occurred. An unknown person had smashed the front window and stole a purse that was sitting in plain view. Police want to remind residents to not leave valuables in their vehicles.
On June 16th, police stopped a vehicle at night for driving without their headlights on. The driver displayed signs of impairment and a demand for his breath was made. The driver registered a “fail” result and was issued a 90-day driving suspension and a 30-day vehicle impoundment.
On June 16th, police could hear loud music coming from Uplands Park. A grad party was discovered with approximately 100 youths consuming liquor. The party quickly dispersed and a cleanup crew had been assembled for the next day.
On June 16th, police conducted a roadblock in the 1300 block of Beach Drive. Police issued two 24 hour driving suspensions for drugs. On June 17th, police responded to a theft of a chained up inflatable raft and trailer in the 3200 block of Beach Drive. The private beach area is only accessible by boat.
On June 17th, police conducted a road block in the 1300 block of Beach Drive. A lone female came through and had marijuana in her possession. Cannabis was seized without charges. Police want to remind residents that it is still illegal to carry/buy marijuana unless you have a legal reason to do so.
