Weekly Media Release June 19-25, 2017

On January 19th police received four reports of vehicles being entered overnight.  These occurred on Island Rd, Linkleas Ave and Lulie St.   Items stolen included money, wallets and IPods.   Police want to remind residents to not leave valuables in their vehicles.

On June 21st police responded to a detached garage break and enter in the 100 block of Denison Rd.  Various items were stolen including a deWalt drill, charger, Propane bottles and change. Garage had been left unlocked.

On June 21st police responded to a theft from auto in the 300 block of Dennison Rd.  2 drills, a flashlight and change were stolen.  Vehicle had been left unlocked.

On June 22nd a vehicle was stopped on Cadboro Bay Rd to check for the sobriety of the driver.  The Class 7 male driver provided a sample into the Roadside screening device and the result was 43mg.  Class 7 drivers have a restriction of driving with a 0 blood alcohol content and therefore a 12 hr driving suspension was issued.

On June 24th police responded to a theft of a bicycle at the University of Victoria.  The cable lock had been cut.  The bike is a black and white men’s Gary Fisher “Advance” mountain bike.

On June 24th police received 11 reports of vehicles being entered overnight.  All vehicles were left unlocked and parked in private driveways.  These occurred on Kinross Ave., Eastdowne Rd., Burdick Ave., Beach Dr., Dalhousie St. and Dewdney Ave.  Items stolen included a purse and coins.

On June 24th, police responded to mischief to a mobility scooter.  The scooter was parked in secure underground parking in the 2000 block Goldsmith.  Ignition and lock to storage area had been tampered with.

On June 24th, police responded to a theft of a bicycle in the 2800 block of Foul Bay Rd.  Bicycle was locked.  The bike is a 10 speed road bike with yellow tape on the handles.

On June 24th, an impaired driving roadblock was set up in the 1300 block of Beach Drive and the police served two 3-day Immediate Roadside Prohibitions.

On June 25th police received a report of vehicle being entered overnight in the 2700 block of Burdick.  Vehicle was unlocked and parked in a private car port.
