The Oak Bay Police Department responded to a total of 92 calls for service.
June 13th, in the early morning hours a vending machine was broken into at the Fraser Building on the UVIC campus. Numerous food items were stolen. If there are any witnesses to the incident please contact the Oak Bay Police, Campus Security or Crime Stoppers.
June 13th, a deer had to be dispatched after being critically injured in a collision with a car in the 200 block of Beach Dr. Police are again warning motorist of wild deer throughout the Oak bay area.
June 13th, a traffic stop was initiated on Cadboro Bay Rd and the driver was subsequently issued a 5 month driving prohibition ordered by Road Safety BC.
June 14th, a theft from an unlocked auto occurred in the 1300 block of Beach Dr. June 15th, 2 unrelated motor vehicle incidents occurred at 2187 Oak Bay Ave. No injuries reported.
June 16th, a report of two separate hit & runs occurred on Beach Dr. A license plate was obtained and an officer responded to the registered owner’s residence. Once the suspect vehicle drove up, it was immediately determined that the driver was suffering from a diabetic emergency. EHS was called to the scene and the driver was transported to hospital. No charges will be laid.
June 17th, police received a report of 8 naked males running south on Henderson Rd. Police patrols did not locate the males.
June 18th, police responded to a 2 vehicle accident in the 2300 block of Beach Dr. No injuries were sustained. June 18th, an elderly male was located in the Estevan Village area. He appeared confused and lost. With the aid of a Saanich Police officer who spoke Punjabi, the male was subsequently reunited with his family.
June 18th, Oak Bay Police located two suspected impaired drivers. Subsequent testing showed they were impaired and were each issued a 90-Day roadside suspension and their vehicles were impounded for 30 days. Another driver was located and issued a 3-day roadside suspension and the car was impounded for 3 days.
