June 23 – The theft of a bicycle and marine battery occurred in the 900 block of Beach Drive. The items were in a carport and not in a secured enclosure.
A dinghy was stolen from a slip at the Oak Bay Marina, 1300 block of Beach Drive. The dinghy was properly secured but this didn’t deter the thief.
June 24 – Two similar thefts occurred, one in the 3200 Henderson Road and the other in the 2100 Bartlett Avenue. The thief in both instances removed the rear license plate of the vehicle. The only difference between the thefts, the thief went after the insurance papers of the vehicle on Bartlett.
June 26 – Four vehicles were damaged just after midnight in the 2000 block of Allenby Street. A witnessed observed a male in his teen’s wearing a green numbered soccer jersey damaging the vehicles. Saanich Police deployed a canine unit but couldn’t locate the suspect. June 27 – A theft from a vehicle occurred in the 1900 block of Bee Street. The suspect entered the “unlocked” vehicle and removed over $1500 in valuables. Once again we can’t stress enough, do notleave valuables in your car!
June 28 – At approximately noon a 19 year old female was jogging on Cadboro Bay Road near Oak Bay High School when a male described as white in his late 40’s, with salt and pepper hair, a high forehead and a thin build, wearing a plaid shirt and jeans, stopped and exited his vehicle. He opened the passenger door for the girl as she came towards his truck and made some sexually explicit comments in a “creepy way”. The vehicle was described as a low-slung blue pickup truck in rough condition. No licence plate number was obtained. The girl kept running and called police when she got home. A search of the area was negative and all other area police departments were advised. The investigation and further inquiries are ongoing.
- Subsequent to the previous media release, a similar report was received from another complainant later the same day with the exact same circumstances. The investigation is ongoing.
