During the week police responded to 92 calls for service.
June 19
Police seized a purse found in Anderson Hill Park on Island road. Subsequent investigation revealed the purse had been stolen from a nearby residence overnight. The suspects entered the home through an insecure garage door. Police later recovered a stolen electric bicycle which had also been stolen from the garage. Several unrelated vehicles were also entered in the Newport area overnight.
June 19
A motorist in the process of smoking marijuana had the misfortune of being stopped in a roadblock on Foul Bay Road. The driver subsequently had his driver’s licence suspended and his vehicle impounded.
June 20
While police were investigating a noisy party complaint in the 2700 block of Easdowne road, they observed a vehicle fail to stop for a stop sign. The driver showed signs of impairment & and subsequently had his driver’s licence suspended for 24 hours. The 20 year old male driver was also issued an appearance notice for court as he was driving with a cancelled licence.
June 20
While police were investigating a noise complaint in the area of Carnarvon Park their police vehicle was spray painted by an unknown culprit. Investigation continues.
June 23
During the evening hours a home in the 3400 block of Cadboro Bay Road was entered. Entry was through the rear door of the home. It does not appear anything was taken.
June 23
At approximately 11 pm. Police responded to a home in the area of Cubbon Drive and Hampshire Road. A teenage male repeatedly rang the doorbell. Upon opening the door the homeowner observed the male was holding what appeared to be a crow bar. The male indicated that someone was after him and quickly fled. The male described as having olive skin, was approximately 5’8” tall.
Police caution this male may have been looking for an unoccupied residence to enter.
