Weekly Media Release June 27-July 3, 2016

Tuesday, June 28th, (#16 – 2278): Syringes and drug paraphernalia was located in a parking lot across from Oak Bay High School. The items were likely intended for IV drug use.

Tuesday, June 29th, (#16 – 2281): During a foot patrol, a uniformed member of the Oak Bay Police observed someone using marijuana on Willows Beach. A small quantity of cannabis and drug paraphernalia was seized and submitted for destruction.

Tuesday, June 29th, (#16 – 2283): A resident of Oak Bay was contacted by a company calling itself “GeeksCohorts” by phone requesting access to a computer and credit card information. The resident realized this was the well-known Micosoft Scam and hung up.

Wednesday, June 30th, (#16 – 2299): A wallet was stolen at Willows Beach. The victim left the wallet unattended in a bag on a blanket. There were no witnesses to the incident.

Wednesday, June 30th, (#16 – 2300): An attempt break and enter occurred in the 2000 block of Oak Bay Avenue overnight. The suspect(s) damaged a door when attempting to enter the store. There were no witnesses to this event.

Wednesday, June 30th, (#16 – 2304): Break and enter occurred in the 2000 block of Oak Bay Avenue. The suspect(s) accessed the internal electrical room of the residential apartment complex. The thief made off with four rolls of toilet paper and small hand tool. There were no witnesses to the theft.

Saturday, July 2nd, (#16 – 2335 ): Members responded to the report of a group of males near Eastdowne and Newton Street. A male in his twenties was located during the investigation a large knife was discovered. The Victoria resident was arrested and later released on a Promise to
