July 1st

A traffic stop was conducted and the officer detected the smell of smoked marihuana as well as observing the driver displaying signs of having smoke marihuana.  The officer conducted a Standardized Field Sobriety Test (SFST) and the driver failed.  The driver was issued a 24 hour driving prohibition as well as a violation ticket for driving with no licence.

Sometime overnight an unknown culprit stole 4 Canadian Flags from the front lawn of a residence in the 2700 blk Burdick Ave.  The flags are part of the Rotary Fundraiser and are mark with Oak Bay Rotary.

July 2nd

A vehicle was stopped for speeding on Foul Bay Rd and when the officer spoke to the driver he detected the odour of liquor coming from the driver’s breath.   After providing samples of their breath to an Approved Screen Device the driver was issued a 3 day Immediate Roadside Prohibition (IRP) and a Violation ticket for speeding.

July 4th
A gentleman received a phone call from an unknown caller convincing him to consolidate his credit card debt into one by applying for a new credit card with a lower interest rate.  The gentleman provided his other credit card information to the caller. It was discovered later that one of his credit cards had been used to make an online purchase. There are number of scams going on right now and it is important to never share any personal or banking information with anyone you don’t know. When in doubt contact your bank directly before sharing any details.
