On March 31st at 9:50 am police were called to a theft that occurred from a boat moored at a local marina. The owner located the stolen items in a nearby boat. The investigation is on-going.
On March 31st at 3:38 pm, police observed a youth tagging an electrical box at the corner of Oak Bay Avenue and Elgin Road. The youth was detained and identified. The investigation continues.
On April 1st at 1:22 pm, police were called to Monterey and Oak Bay Avenue to investigate a hit and run. A witness observed a Lexus SUV collide with a parked Subaru. The driver of the Lexus was observed to exit their vehicle, look at the Subaru, then drive away without leaving a note. The witness provided a licence plate to police, who were able to locate the owner of the Lexus, who was on the phone to ICBC reporting the incident. The driver of the Lexus was issued a violation ticket for failing to remain at the scene of an accident.
On April 2nd at 3:21 am police stopped a vehicle driving erratically on Beach Drive at Oliver Street. The driver displayed signs of liquor consumption. Both breath samples registered a “Fail”. The driver was given a 90-day Immediate Roadside Prohibition and his vehicle was impounded for 30 days.
On April 3rd at 9:02 am police responded to a report of mischief to a business in the 2000 block of Oak Bay Avenue. Sometime overnight, person(s) unknown threw eggs and splashed ketchup over the walls and windows of the business. No other businesses in the area were targeted.
On April 3rd at 12:38 pm, police responded to a complaint of Hit and Run on Beach Drive at Monterey Avenue. The complainant reported that they were driving their vehicle along Beach Drive when they were passed by an older blue Mazda 4-door sedan. The Mazda pulled back in striking the front of the complainant’s vehicle, ripping off the front bumper. The Mazda sped off without stopping, last seen northbound on Beach Drive. Police are looking for the owner of the Mazda.

On April 4th at 5:41 pm, police responded to a two-vehicle collision on Cadboro Bay Road at Epworth. A Ford Focus was westbound on Cadboro Bay Road when a Mercedes Benz turned in front of it from southbound Epworth Road, resulting in a collision. There was approximately $4000 in damage to each vehicle, and both had to be towed from the scene. The driver of the Mercedes was issued a violation ticket for failing to yield on left turn.
On April 5th at 11:00 am, police responded to a complaint of damage to a vehicle in the 2000 block of Byron Street. The complainant advised that sometime overnight, person(s) unknown poured yellow latex paint over a vehicle parked in their driveway. No apparent motive is known.
On April 5th at 11:55 am police investigated a break-in that occurred to a detached garage in the 1100 block of Victoria Avenue. A silver Cannondale 18-speed men’s mountain bike was stolen.
On April 5th at 12:37 pm police responded to a two-vehicle collision on Foul Bay Road at Goldsmith Street. A Dodge van collided with a Plymouth van which was turning to go southbound on Foul Bay Road. Witnesses report the Dodge van failed to stop for the red light. The driver of the Plymouth was taken to the hospital for examination. His vehicle was towed from the scene. The investigation continues.
On April 5th at 7:22 pm police responded to a report of children lighting a fire in the parking lot at Willows Elementary School. Police stopped three youths a short distance away. They have been referred to the Oak Bay Fire Department Fire Starters program.
