Sometime during the weekend a vehicle drove onto the grass field at Windsor Park causing damage to the baseball field.
A vehicle, parked in the 3200 blk Woodburn Ave, was forcibly entered sometime during the weekend. The unknown suspect stole a small amount of money that was left in the vehicle. Another vehicle parked in the 3400 blk Henderson Rd was also forcibly entered. Nothing was reported stolen from this vehicle.
March 8th, 2017
Shortly after midnight, police set up a roadblock on Cadboro Bay Rd and as a result a 3-Day IRP was issued to a female driver.
Sometime during the day an unknown suspect stole a locked bike, by cutting the lock, in the 2100 blk Oak Bay Ave. The bike is described as a Opus Orpheo 2.0, black with white writing, 30 speed with fenders.
March 9th, 2017
Police received a call of an attempted arson at the Uplands Campus School on Henderson Road. While no fire was set it was apparent the person(s) responsible brought items to the scene that would be used to set a fire. There have been no similar events in the immediate area and no indication of a motive. A member from Saanich’s Forensic Identification Section attended conducted a scene examination. A red plastic gas can and other items have been recovered. The matter is still under investigation and the police are interested in any information relating to this event.
While conducting stationary radar on Cadboro Bay Rd police stopped a vehicle that was driving in excess of 100 km/h in a 50 km/h zone. The driver was issued a violation ticket for excessive speed and the vehicle was impounded for 7 days.
March 11th, 2017
Sometime overnight an unknown suspect forcibly gained entry through the ground floor front door of an apartment located in the 2800 blk Foul Bay Rd and stole a bike that was in the lobby. The bike is described as a men’s black/orange Trek Marlin, 21 speed.
March 12th, 2017
During a road block, held in the early hours, a vehicle was stopped and the lone driver showed signs of impairment. A roadside Standardized Field Sobriety Test (SFST) was done and the driver performed poorly. The driver was then detained for drug impaired driving and transported back to the Oak Bay Police Department for an evaluation conducted by a Drug Recognition Expert. As a result the driver was issued a 24 hr suspension by drug.
