On May 22nd, police were called to a residence in the Uplands for a residential break and enter. The residents returned home after a few days away to find a quantity of valuables had been stolen from the house. Forensic Identification Services attended the residence and conducted an examination.
On May 26th, police responded to the 1200 block of Hampshire Road for a report of Mischief to Vehicle. The owner watched a male, dressed all in black, wearing a full face motorcycle helmet, walk up to his truck and head butt the front driver and passenger windows on his vehicle. Both windows were smashed. The suspect male was last seen southbound on Hampshire.
On May 27th, police were called to the 1900 block of Bee Street for a report of a body in the creek. Police, Fire and Ambulance attended and confirmed an elderly female was deceased. With the assistance of detectives, the identity of the female was established and the family notified. Cause of death is still under investigation. Thanks to Oak Bay Fire Department and Saanich Police for their assistance in this matter.
On May 27th, police were called to the intersection of Beach Drive and Ripon Rd for an injury collision between a motor vehicle and a cyclist. The cyclist was southbound on Beach Drive when the pickup truck crossed Ripon Rd westbound. The driver noticed the cyclist at the last second and stopped, however the cyclist was not able to stop and collided with the side of the vehicle. The cyclist required medical attention. The matter is still under investigation.
On May 27th, police were called to Willows Park for a lost child. The boy was missing from the playground area for approximately 30 minutes but was found a short distance away on the beach.
