Weekly Media Release May 23-29, 2016

On May 23, 2016 Oak Bay Police discovered a significant amount of mischief along Oak Bay Ave and the Bowker Creek area.  Along Oak Bay Ave numerous postal boxes and garbage bins were overturned and a manhole cover was removed posing a serious risk of injury.  Along Bowker Creek a number of large circular light bulb covers were smashed.   Anyone with information is asked to contact the Oak Bay Police Department.

On May 25, 2016 police received a report that in recent weeks there have been up to four sightings of racoons with a missing paw in the area of Haultain – Epworth – Kings area.  One of the injured racoons was a nursing mother.  Although undetermined, this has the appearance of utilizing a leg trap.  The use of such devices may pose serious risk to domestic animals such as dogs and cats, and could cause very serious injury to a person or small child accidentally stepping on such a trap.   Anyone with information is asked to contact the Oak Bay Police Department or Crimestoppers.
