Monday, May 25th – The Oak Bay Police received information of a missing elderly male in his 80’s. The male had wondered off from home at 10:00pm the previous day. The surrounding police departments were advised of the missing male and Saanich Police located him at McKenzie and Shelbourne Street at 3:00am. The male was returned home and didn’t require any medical attention.
Wednesday, May 27th – Sometime between May 5th and 19th, a steel tube bike trailer used for Oak Bay Municipal Promotions was stolen from the bike lock up at the Oak Bay Beach Hotel. The trailer is quite identifiable and photos have been circulated through social media.
Thursday, May 28th – A cyclist was struck by a vehicle on Foul Bay and Fort Street. The cyclist, who south bound on Foul Bay, intended on making a left hand turn but misjudged the distance of a vehicle approaching from behind. The cyclist, who was participating in Bike to Work Week, was struck and knocked to the ground. The cyclist was transported to the Royal Jubilee Hospital by Emergency Health Services for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
Friday, May 29th – A vehicle was observed driving higher than the posted rate of speed. The investigating member stopped the vehicle and noted the smell of liquor and watery eyes when dealing with the driver, who admitted to consuming liquor. The driver was provided breath samples on the alcohol screening device and failed. An Immediate Roadside Prohibition was served and the driver’s vehicle was towed.
