On May 26th at 7:00 am, police responded to a single vehicle crash on Beach Drive at King George Terrace. A Nissan Sentra was southbound on Beach Drive and failed to negotiate the turn at King George Terrace. The vehicle left the roadway and collided with a tree, causing the airbags to deploy. The driver complained of facial soreness and was taken to Royal Jubilee hospital for examination. The incident is still under investigation.
On May 30th at 7:00 am, police responded to a report of theft from auto in the 1700 block of Foul Bay Road. Vehicle was rifled through but nothing appears to have been taken.
On May 30th at 5:30 pm, police responded to a two-vehicle collision on Lansdowne Road at Cadboro Bay Road. A Toyota was eastbound on Lansdowne Road when it entered the intersection at Cadboro Bay Road, colliding with a Land Rover which was northbound on Cadboro Bay Road. The driver of the Toyota complained of ankle pain and was examined by BC Ambulance paramedics at the scene. The driver of the Land Rover did not report any injuries at the scene. The Toyota was towed from the scene with extensive damage while the Land Rover was able to be driven away.
On May 30th at 7:35 pm, police responded to a report of two males in a vehicle in possession of a pistol in the 3500 block of Redwood Avenue. Oak Bay and Saanich police units responded. Three youths were detained at the scene and it was determined that the pistol in question was a realistic looking pellet pistol. The pistol was seized and the matter is still under investigation. Oak Bay Police would like to remind everybody that any imitation firearm that looks real will be assumed to be genuine until determined otherwise. Situations like these have the potential to end badly. Keep imitation firearms at home, ensure any colored pieces on the imitation does not get painted black in an effort to make them look real, and talk to your children about the risks of being in public with an imitation or replica firearm. Police officers will treat any firearm call as if it were real!
On May 31st at 5:22 pm, police were advised that someone within the last hour had broken the driver’s side window of a pick-up truck parked in the 900 block of Linkleas Avenue. The matter is still under investigation.
