Weekly Media Release Nov 11-17, 2013

On November 11th, at 3:15 P.M. , police responded to a complaint of assault in the 2000 block of Cadboro Bay Road. A local resident and a business owner were arguing over long term parking when the resident allegedly assaulted the business owner. The investigation continues.

On November 14th at 9:00, a fifteen year old male was cycling on Windsor Road when a deer jumped in front of him, resulting in a collision. The youth was not injured and the deer continued on its way.

On November 15th, police were called to a business in the 2000 block of Cadboro Bay Road where the front window had been smashed in an attempted break-in. The inner pane of the window remained intact and so entry was not gained.

On November 16th, at 12:06 A.M., a vehicle was stopped on Foul Bay Road for driving over the centre line and failing to stop at a stop sign. The 62 year old male driver showed signs of alcohol consumption, a roadside breath demand was given, and the resulting sample showed a Fail. The driver was given a 90 day driving prohibition and his vehicle was impounded for 30 days.

On November 16th, at 2:17 A.M., police stopped a vehicle for speeding on Henderson Road. The driver showed signs of alcohol consumption, a roadside breath demand was given, and the breath sample showed a Warn. The 26 year old female driver was given a three day driving prohibition.

On November 16th, the same business in the 2000 block of Cadboro Bay Road was the victim of another attempted break and enter. A wood panel covering the damaged glass from the night before was pried out. Again, entry was not gained.
On November 16th at 8:32 P.M. police received a complaint of theft from vehicle in the 2000 block of Meadow Place. The owner of a Jeep confronted a woman who had exited his vehicle. She told him she thought it was her friend’s vehicle. He followed her to a gas station on Oak bay Ave where he lost sight of her. Two Phillips in-car DVD players with 9” screens were stolen from his Jeep. The female is described as 5’6” with shoulder length brown hair.

On November 16th at 9:58 P.M., police received a second report of a theft from vehicle in the 2000 block of Meadow Place. In this case, an iPhone was stolen from a parked vehicle.

On November 17th, at 1:25, Oak Bay Fire Department called to report a dumpster had been intentionally lit on fire behind the Rec Centre. Someone had lit the cardboard recycle bin on fire, resulting in some heat damage to the tennis bubble. There are currently no identified suspects.

On November 17th, at 1:30 A.M., police stopped a vehicle for a burnt out headlight. The driver admitted to consuming a beer. A roadside breath demand was given, and the resulting sample showed a Warn. The 21 year old male driver was given a seven day driving prohibition and his vehicle was towed.
