Weekly Media Release Nov. 23 – Nov. 29, 2020

Oak Bay Police are confident several of our residents will make Santa’s nice list this year. Three found wallets, containing cash, and found money (less than $60) were turned in to the front desk of our department. The wallets have been returned to grateful owners. No one has come forward to report the loss of cash. If you have lost Canadian paper currency in south Oak Bay over the past week and can confirm the date, location of loss, denomination(s) and condition of bill(s) we may be able to help you (Serious inquiries only. No guessing or you could find yourself on the naughty list). (Oak Bay Police File 2020-3619).

On November 24, 2020 just after 10:00pm Oak Bay Police received a report of an impaired driver who had just struck a parked car near the 2400 block of Lansdowne Road. The driver who had hit the parked car exited her vehicle, retrieved her dislodged licence plate, examined the damage to the vehicles and then left the scene driving south bound. Oak Bay Police Officers located the suspect vehicle a short time later and observed the vehicle drive off the roadway, over the sea wall and along the beach for approximately 75ft near the Oak Bay Marina on Beach Drive. The 43-year-old female driver from Victoria was arrested for fail to remain at the scene of an accident, failure to comply with demand (provide a breath sample) and dangerous operation of conveyance (vehicle) and issued a 90-day administrative driving prohibition. The female driver was uninjured and lodged in cells overnight then released. This matter is still under investigation and criminal charges are being sought. (Oak Bay Police File 2020-3710)
