Weekly Media Release Nov 3-9, 2014

On November 3rd, a resident on Estevan Ave reported an expensive Halloween decoration had been stolen, valued at $200.

On November 4th, a resident on Neil Street reported finding two laptop computers plugged into the outside receptacle of his residence, apparently charging. A check of the serial numbers shows the two laptops stolen. They were seized for safekeeping. Investigation is ongoing.

On November 4th, police responded to a complaint of a male walking a large dog on Oak Bay Avenue threatening passers-by. Police located the male, who became violent. He was arrested for assault, apprehended under the mental health act, and transported to Royal Jubilee Hospital for assessment. He was later released on a Promise to Appear.

On November 5th, a patron of the Oak Bay Rec Centre reported their wallet stolen out of their backpack while they skated. Police recommend people use the Rec Centre lockers for any valuables you must leave unattended.

On November 5th, police observed a vehicle driving without its headlights on. A traffic stop was conducted and it was discovered that the driver had an odour of liquor on their breath as well as other indications of recent alcohol consumption. A roadside breath sample registered a “Fail”. The driver was given a 90-day Immediate Roadside Prohibition and their vehicle was towed.
