Weekly Media Release October 20-26 2014

Over this past week, Oak Bay Police members responded to 75 calls for service.

On Tuesday, the 21 Oct, two thefts were reported to police, one theft involved property being stolen from a house under renovation, no suspects, and the second theft involved the theft of a bicycle from the area of the Oak Bay Marina; no suspects. Police also investigated an assault at UVIC, however, the file was turned over to the Saanich Police Department (SPD), as the assault was related to another matter currently under investigation by the SPD.

On Thursday, the 23 Oct, one theft was reported to police which involved the theft of a UPS package being left at the front door of a residence, no suspects. One motor vehicle collision was reported to police in the Victoria Ave & Granite St area, however, there were no injuries. A driver was issued a three day immediate driving prohibition after being stopped by police in the area of Beach Drive and Newport Avenue.

On Friday, the 24 Oct, two thefts were reported to police, one involved the theft of validation sticker off the complainants licence plate; no suspects. The second theft involved the theft of a boat motor off a boat moored on the beach near the Oak Bay Marina; no suspects.

On Saturday, the 25 Oct, two collisions were reported to police and both involved deer in the 2300 block of Cadboro Bay Rd; no injuries. Several youths were also questioned in the Windsor Park area after residences reported fireworks being used near the park. One of the youths was apprehended for possession of cannabis, liquor and possession of fireworks; however, no criminal charges were pursued and the youth was turned over to a parent.

On Sunday, the 26 Oct, there was one break and enter reported to police in the St Patrick St area, and involved the theft of a women’s 21 speed Cannondale hybrid bicycle from an unlocked shed; no suspects. One mischief was also reported to police and involved the vandalism of election signs in the Mount Joy Ave area, no suspects.
