Woman Assaulted By Man Who Attempted To Steal Her Car

At approximately 7:15 am on March 23rd, the Oak Bay Police responded to a call of a man attacking a woman and attempting to steal her car in the 200 block of King George Terrace. The woman was sitting in her car at the lookout having a coffee when the man approached and opened her car door and pulled her out. Some cyclists riding by heard the woman’s cry for help and stopped to assist and called the police. Officers arrived and took one man into custody and called for paramedics to tend to some minor injuries sustained by the woman during the attack. The suspect is also believed to be responsible for a break and enter not far from where he was arrested for this assault. The victim, although shaken by the incident, suffered no major injuries.

A 25 year old man is in custody and is being investigated for robbery with violence, break and enter and breach of probation. Detectives are interviewing the witnesses and the investigation is ongoing. This appears to be an isolated incident at this time.
