Earlier this morning a 39 year old male resident of Saanich and a 38 year old male resident of Langford were arrested for Trafficking In A Controlled Substance. The arrests are a result of a month long drug trafficking investigation conducted by the Oak Bay Police Department Detective Division with the assistance of members of the Victoria Police Crime Reduction Unit.
Last month Oak Bay Police received information indicating that the arrested individual was selling cocaine in Oak Bay. An investigation was initiated and on three subsequent occasions undercover officers purchased cocaine from the suspect. The arrest earlier this morning occurred without incident and was conducted by members of the Greater Victoria Emergency Response Team during a vehicle stop near Cook Street Village. At this time a search warrant is being executed at the suspects’ residence in the 3600 block of Quadra Street in Saanich. Investigators have also located a small marihuana grow operation at the residence. Oak Bay Police will be recommending that the accused be charged with three counts of Trafficking In A Controlled Substance and one count of Production of a Controlled Substance.
During the course of this investigation our investigator worked closely with members of the Victoria Police Crime Reduction Unit and earlier today with members of the Saanich Police Department in the execution of the search warrant on Quadra Street. This is an excellent example of local police agencies sharing information and working in a collaborative manner to address the illegal trafficking of drugs in our communities.
