Fire Incident at Oak Bay High School Prompts Closure and Evacuation

At approximately 9:45 a.m., the Oak Bay Police Department received a call from the Oak Bay Fire Department regarding a fire inside a boy’s washroom at Oak Bay High School. The fire was quickly contained to the washroom, but as a safety measure, the school was closed and all students were sent home for the day. Thankfully, no injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is currently unknown, and no suspects have been identified. The Saanich Police Department Forensic Identification Section responded to the scene to assist with the investigation, which is ongoing in collaboration with fire officials.
