The Oak Bay Police Department responded to 62 calls for service this week.
Theft from Vehicle
On January 26, 2025, the Oak Bay Police received a report of a theft from a motor vehicle. The complainant reported that their vehicle had been parked in the 2700 block of Lincoln Rd. Sometime overnight, someone broke into the vehicle and stole two jackets valued at approximately $100. There are no suspects at this time. (OB File 25-218)
Theft of Vehicle
On January 31, 2025, at 7:43 AM, the Oak Bay Police received a report of a stolen motor vehicle, a white GMC pick-up truck. The complainant stated that they had parked the vehicle in the 300 block of Woodburn Ave. Sometime overnight, the vehicle was stolen, along with several power tools that were inside. The matter is still under investigation. (OB File 25-263)
Unconfirmed Cougar Sighting
On January 31, 2025, at approximately 11:15pm, the Oak Bay Police Department received a call about an unconfirmed cougar sighting in the area Mystic Vale Park. The complainant reported to UVIC Security that they were walking in the area and spotted what they thought was a cougar. UVIC Security notified police who attended the area but were unable to locate it. BC Conservation Service was also notified. This was the second sighting of a cougar since January, the last being January 7th where Oak Bay Police officers observed a cougar on the beach adjacent the 3500 block of Beach Drive.
