The Oak Bay Police Department responded to 64 calls for service this week.

Coffee with a Cop

On January 15, 2025, officers attended the Monterey Center and hosted a “Coffee with a Cop” program for over an hour. This event was well received, allowing citizens to have various questions and concerns addressed by OBPD. There will be more Coffee with a Cop sessions offered throughout 2025. (2025-131)

Scam/Fraud Presentation

On January 15, 2025, OBPD officers visited an independent senior living home to present on the topic of fraud protection to residents. The police answered many questions, providing valuable information on how seniors can better protect themselves from online scams. (2025-135)

Youth Drop-In at Oak Bay Recreation Centre

On January 16, 2025, officers attended the Youth Drop-In at the Oak Bay Recreation Centre, spending over an hour engaging with local youth, answering questions, and building relationships. (2025-137)

Speed Enforcement on Beach Drive

On January 16, 2025, an OBPD officer was conducting speed enforcement in the 700 block of Beach Drive when a motorcycle was caught on radar traveling at 84 km/h in a posted 40 km/h zone. The rider was issued a violation ticket for Excessive Speed under S.148(1), resulting in a $368 fine and a seven-day vehicle impoundment. (2025-143)

Project Sea Watch Information Session

On January 18, 2025, OBPD provided an information session for the public at Turkey Head Walkway near Oak Bay Marina regarding “Project Sea Watch.” Several members of the community attended and spoke about concerns for water safety, theft prevention, and derelict vessels. Project Sea Watch is a community policing initiative focused on public safety for water users. (2025-143)
