IMPAIRED DRIVER

Oak Bay Police continued focused enforcement for impaired driving during and following the holiday season as part of proactive efforts to ensure public safety. On January 3, 2026, at approximately 8:30 p.m., officers conducted an impaired driving check stop on Oak Bay Avenue. A driver was issued a three-day Immediate Roadside Prohibition after providing two breath samples that registered a “Warn” reading. The vehicle was impounded for three days, and the driver departed the scene on foot. (File: 2026-36)

 

THEFT AND FRAUD

On December 29, 2025, at approximately 8:02 a.m., Oak Bay Police received a report of theft and fraud after personal items, including a cellphone and wallet, were stolen from a changing room at the Oak Bay Recreation Centre. Stolen bank cards were later used for unauthorized transactions at businesses in Victoria. CCTV footage shows the suspect leaving the recreation center and later departing in a taxicab. Police have seized video from the taxi and are releasing it to the public to assist in identifying the suspect. (File: 2025-3696)
