THEFT OF OUTDOOR STATUE
Between late morning and mid-afternoon on January 5, a 200-pound cast-iron Easter Island style statue valued at approximately $200 was stolen from outside a residence in the 1000 block of Transit Road. An officer attended the following morning and conducted neighbourhood inquiries, including checks for nearby CCTV cameras and speaking with workers in the area. Police are seeking assistance from the public to identify a suspect. (File 26-51)

MISCHIEF TO PUBLIC WASHROOMS
Police responded to two incidents of mischief at public washrooms in Windsor Park and Firefighters Park during the week. In both cases, toilets and sinks were intentionally clogged and fixtures tampered with in apparent attempts to cause flooding, with no suspects identified. District staff cleaned and secured the facilities, and officers conducted extra patrols in the affected areas. These incidents place avoidable strain on municipal resources and temporarily limit public access to essential park amenities. Anyone with information is asked to contact Oak Bay Police Department. ASSAULT ARREST – INTIMATE PARTNER VIOLENCE
On January 6, police responded to a report that a man had left a residence on Granite Street after allegedly assaulting a woman inside the building. Officers attended, obtained statements from those present, and the victim was assessed by paramedics and transported to hospital. Police located the suspect walking nearby and arrested him without incident. He was held for a bail hearing on charges of Assault and Assault by Choking. The victim is expected to make a full recovery from her injuries. This investigation is ongoing. (File 26-62)
