The Oak Bay Police Department responded to 81 calls for service this week.
Assault
On November 27, 2024, the Oak Bay Police responded to an assault in progress in the 1700 block of Elgin Rd. Upon arrival, officers located two victims. One male victim had been punched several times in the back of the head, while the second victim was thrown to the ground and kicked in the head. The second victim sustained injuries and was transported to the hospital by EHS. The suspect, known to both victims, was located and arrested for assault. The 66-year-old male suspect was later released with conditions, including no contact with the victims. The extent of the victims’ injuries is currently unknown but is not believed to be life threatening. (OB File 24-3335)
Trespass at Night / Breach of Probation
On November 30, 2024, at 10:00 PM, the Oak Bay Police received a report of a prowler on a property in the 500 block of St Patrick St. The homeowner, who was not home at the time, observed a male on their property via remote video surveillance. Police attended and located a 43-year-old male exiting the backyard of a neighboring property. Recognizing the male from a previous incident, officers were aware that he was under the following conditions:
• Not to attend St Patrick St
• Not to enter any residential property unless invited
The male was arrested for Breach of Probation and Trespass by Night and held in custody for a bail hearing.
Andrew James EVANS is charged with the following:
• 2 counts of Breach of Probation (Section 733.1(1) of the Criminal Code)
• Trespass at Night (Section 177 of the Criminal Code)
Mr. EVANS was held in custody and will next appear in court on December 17, 2024. (OB File 24-3377)
