The Oak Bay Police Department responded to 72 calls for service this week.

The Oak Bay Police Department urges residents to always lock their vehicles and remove any valuables. Theft from automobiles is often a crime of opportunity, and taking simple precautions can significantly reduce the risk. Remember, a locked vehicle is a less attractive target for thieves.

Theft from Automobile

On November 16, 2024, the Oak Bay Police responded to a theft from automobile call in the 2300 block of Cadboro Bay Rd. The complainant advised that sometime during the night, an unknown suspect entered their unlocked vehicle. The complainant came out in the morning and noted the vehicle had been rummaged through. The only item missing was their insurance papers. (OB File 24-3229)

Theft from Automobile

On November 17, 2024, at 12:14 am, the Oak Bay Police received a report of an attempted theft in the 2700 block of Thompson Ave. The complainant advised that they located a male attempting to steal items from their unlocked vehicle. The suspect dropped all the items when confronted by the complainant. The suspect is described as approximately 16 years old, 5’6”, with a medium build, wearing a light grey hoodie and jeans. The suspect took off on a white bicycle with a bag hanging on the front. The matter is still under investigation. (OB File 24-3234)
