Media Release May 25th – May 31st, 2020

On May 27th the Oak Bay Police received a theft from auto report in the 2200 block of Windsor Rd. The theft occurred overnight, and the vehicle was believed to be unlocked. 2 bags of keys were taken. (OB File 20-1637)

On May 27th the Oak Bay Police received a theft from auto report in the 1000 block of Monterey Ave. The theft occurred overnight, and the vehicle was believed to be unlocked. Spare change was taken. (OB File 20-1638)

On May 27th the Oak Bay Police received a mischief to vehicle report in the 2200 block of Florence St. The complainant advised that she noticed a deep scratch in the rear of her vehicle. (OB File 20-1640)

On May 27th the Oak Bay Police received a mischief to vehicle report in the 2100 block of Crescent Rd. The complainant advised that someone attempted to remove the Valtag sticker from the rear licence plate. (OB File 20-1639)

On May 29th the Oak Bay Police received a report of a suspicious occurrence in the 3000 block of Beach Dr. The complainant parked her car and went for a walk. When she returned to her car the driver’s side door was open and all of the other doors were locked. Nothing appeared to have been stolen. (OB File 20-1658)

On May 29th the Oak Bay Police received a report of a fraud. The complainant received an email from her girlfriend requesting she buy $300 in Google PlayCards as she needed them but was unable to leave due to a meeting. The complainant bought the cards and then realized it was probably a scam and did not provide the numbers. The complainant spoke to her girlfriend who advised that her email had been compromised. Luckily in this incidence there was no loss. (OB File 20-1660)

On May 30th the Oak Bay Police received a theft from auto report in the 100 block of Beach Dr. The theft occurred overnight, and the vehicle was believed to be unlocked. A pair of prescription sunglasses and some clothes were stolen. Value $400. (OB File 20-1638)
