Media release for the week of April 15th to April 21, 2013
On April 15th, 2013 0322 hrs a 1993 Asuna Sunfire was was observed travelling southbound on Cadboro Bay Rd from Cedar Hill XRD, Oak Bay, with no passenger headlamp illuminated and rear lights working intermittently. The vehicle was stopped on Lansdowne Rd. and the 33 yr old driver smelled of alcohol. Investigation revealed that the vehicle had just struck a deer, hence the defective lights. A subsequent impaired driving investigation resulted in the driver being issued a 90 day Immediate Roadside Prohibition from driving as well as a Violation Ticket for driving contrary to the no alcohol condition of his licence. The vehicle was impounded for 30 days and it cannot be returned to the road until it passes a full safety inspection.
On April 15th, 2013 at 0710 hrs a red Ford Mustang with a tan coloured roof was seen to strike a power pole at the corner of Cadboro Bay Rd at Eastdowne Rd and then leave the scene. The car will have damage to the passenger side and anyone with information is asked to call the Oak Bay Police Department at 250-592-2424.
On April 15th, 2013 a resident in the 2600 block of Dalhousie St reported the theft of a life-size concrete Dalmation dog statue and a life-size concrete snow monkey statue from the front lawn sometime overnight. The dog statue weighs 200 lbs and the monkey weighs 55 lbs. “Art Form Sculpture Studio” is stamped on the bottom of each statue.
