Weekly Media Release April 6 – April 12, 2020

On April 6th, Oak Bay Police received a report of a break and enter to a garden shed in the 2900 block of Eastdowne Road. A grass trimmer and possibly some garden tools were stolen. Occurred over the past 10 days. Value $400.00. OB File 2020-1050.

On April 8th, Oak Bay Police received a report of a theft in the 2100 block of Oak Bay Avenue. Suspect stole a bottle of gin. Male located short time after and was arrested and released. Value $45.00. OB File 2020-1076.

On April 8th, Oak Bay Police received two reports of a suspicious male. The male was first spotted looking inside a vehicle window at Currie Road and Newport Avenue. The male later banged on a house door in the 2400 block of McNeill Avenue looking for water. The male was described as stumbling slightly and or walking with a sore leg. The male was located in the area and identified. Male is believed to be a possible suspect in theft from vehicles. OB Files 2020-1082 and 1083.

On April 9th, Oak Bay Police received a report of a theft in the 1700 block of Elgin Road. Suspect stole 3 large (3’ x 2’) planters with plants from the front yard. Value $500. OB File 2020-1088.

On April 11th, Oak Bay Police responded to a mischief that occurred in the 2000 block of Cadboro Bay Road. A CCTV camera had been ripped down from the ceiling. There was another CCTV camera close by that will most likely have footage of this incident. Investigation on going. Ob File 2020-1102.

Oak Bay had 6 theft from vehicle incidents. All vehicles appeared to have been unlocked. Items stolen included sunglasses, spare change, a vacuum, a purse and insurance papers. The thefts occurred in the following locations:

•2000 block Carnarvon Street: OB File: 2020-1121
•2100 block Allenby Street: OB File: 2020-1124
•2000 block Carrick Street: OB File: 2020-1025
•2000 block Kings Road: OB File: 2020-1026
