Police responded to three reports of vehicles being entered in south Oak Bay this past week. One occurred in the 2200 block of Windsor Rd where two iPods and $50 change was taken from an unlocked vehicle, another occurred in the 800 block of Newport Ave where some cash was removed from a vehicle and the last occurred on King George Terrace where a GPS was stolen from the locked vehicle. Police again remind the public not to leave any items of value in your car and to ensure the vehicle is locked at all times.
On August 9th an Oak Bay resident advised that the license plates on his Volkswagen van were both stolen and the rear plate was replaced by someone else’s license plate. Police learned that the plate used to replace the stolen ones, was itself stolen from a vehicle in Langford. The Langford vehicle had been stolen and located by West Shore RCMP on August 7th. Police are continuing their investigation.
On August 9th at 6:00 pm police were called to a fight between two family members on Foul Bay Road. Upon police arrival one of the people involved had departed the residence but was located approximately two blocks away was arrested for assault. The 24 year old male was intoxicated and held in custody until sober whereupon he was released on a Promise to Appear in court on charges of Assault Causing Bodily Harm and Mischief. The investigation continues.
During the course of the last 7 days, there were an unusually high number of false alarms with police responding to 18 false alarms.
