August 11 – A vehicle with 3 occupants was clocked at 115 km in a 50 km zone on Foul Bay Road. The investigation revealed the driver was operating the vehicle with a learner’s license and was also in possession of a quantity of marijuana. The driver was issued a ticket for excessive speed, the vehicle was impounded for 7 days and the drugs were seized.
August 13 – Officers doing speed enforcement on Henderson Road stopped a vehicle that was exceeding the posted rate of speed. The investigating officer noticed the driver smelled of liquor. The investigation lead to the driver, who is visiting Canada, having his license suspended for 3 days.
August 14 – During a drinking driving roadblock a vehicle was stopped on Foul Bay Road and further investigation revealed the driver was operating his vehicle contrary to restrictions and under the influence of alcohol. The driver was issued an immediate roadside prohibition and had his driving privileges suspended for 3 days.
On the same evening another vehicle was observed running a stop sign on Hampshire Road. When the investigating member approached the driver he noted the smell of alcohol coming from him. The investigation lead to the driver receiving a 3 day immediate roadside prohibition.
August 15 – Oak Bay Police were contacted when a witness heard the sound of breaking glass coming from the west building of Oak Bay High School. A male was seen running from area but was never located. Police responded and the investigation revealed that someone hurled a classroom chair through a window. The school was not entered and nothing was noted to be stolen.
