August 1-2: There were 34 calls for service, and consisted mainly of routine investigations, including false alarms, parking, bylaw, and traffic complaints.
August 3: There were 7 calls for service, and consisted mainly of routine calls, however, one theft was reported to police. The theft occurred when someone stole items from the Diabetes Donation box. This file remains open.
August 4: There were 16 calls for service, and consisted mainly of routine calls, however, there were 4 thefts from vehicles reported to police. In all 4 cases, the culprit(s) entered unlocked vehicles, stealing loose change, and in one theft, an iPhone was stolen. Oak Bay residents are reminded to lock their cars, and or, remove all valuables from the vehicle. In an unrelated matter, a counterfeit Canadian $50 dollar bill was turned over to police from a local business. It is not known who passed the currency, or even if they knew the currency was counterfeit.
August 5: There were 19 calls for service, that consisted mainly of routine investigations, including false alarms, parking, bylaw, and traffic complaints, however, one theft was reported to police. The theft occurred when someone stole a 9’ Aquapro aluminum hull inflatable tender and a Yamaha, 4 stroke, 8hp motor, from one of our local marinas.
August 6 : There were 6 calls for service, including another counterfeit Canadian $50 dollar bill, which was turned over to police from a local business. It is not known who passed the currency, or even if they knew the currency was counterfeit. In addition, there were 2 impaired drivers stopped by police, resulting in one 3 day Immediate Roadside Prohibition, and one 90 day Immediate Roadside Prohibition.
August 7: There were 10 calls for service, including one impaired driver who was stopped by police, resulting in a 90 day Immediate Roadside Prohibition. The remainder of the calls to police were routine in nature.
