Weekly Media Release Dec. 23 – Dec. 29, 2019

On December 26th at 6:30 am, the Oak Bay Police were alerted to a 70-year-old male pedestrian struck on Oak Bay Avenue and Hampshire Road in Oak Bay. The pedestrian received a broken right leg and sustained a head injury after being struck by a vehicle that was travelling westbound. The driver remained at the scene of the accident and cooperated fully with police. The investigation is continuing. Police would like to hear from any witnesses who may have seen this collision if they have not yet spoken to the police. (19-4920)

On December 28th, the Oak Bay Police Department investigated a Residential break and Enter in the 2000 block of Beach Drive in Oak Bay. This investigation is still ongoing. (19-4938)

As well, on December 28th, the manager at Fairway Market, called Police to report that an unknown male broke into and stole four bags of bottles from their secured cage out back in the 2100 block of Oak Bay Avenue. A review of surveillance video shows a male on a mountain bike wearing a back pack and hoodie at 3:40 am on reported date. (19-4944)

On December 29th, at 0327 hours, Oak Bay Police responded to a glass break alarm at the Liquor Plus liquor store located in the 2500 block of Cadboro Bay Road, Oak Bay. Two male suspects smashed the front door glass using a rock. Victoria Police canine units attended to assist in the search for the culprits. Several bottles of alcohol were stolen, and the perpetrators were captured on store surveillance. If anyone recognizes these suspects please contact the Oak Bay Police at 250 592-2424. (19-4951)
