On February 4th police received a report of theft that occurred sometime in the previous six weeks. The complainant had his boat moored in Cadboro Bay but it washed ashore during a storm. Stolen from the boat were a Nissan 15 hp short leg motor and a Mercury 7.5 hp motor. Also stolen was a fore sail which had a large oil patch stain on the sail.
On February 5th police attended a residential break and enter where a ground floor apartment was entered by prying open a sliding glass door. The owner was away at the time. Saanich Forensic Identification Section attended to examine the scene. Police are continuing their investigation.
On February 6th at approximately 12:30am police stopped a pickup truck for excessive speeding. The truck had been eastbound in the 2300 block of Cedar Hill Cross Rd when police clocked the vehicle by radar at 127 km/hr in the 50 km/hr zone. The 28 year old Victoria man was issued a violation ticket for excessive speed carrying a $483.00 fine and his vehicle was impounded for seven days.
On February 7th at approximately 10:00 pm police stopped a car for excessive speeding. The car had been eastbound in the 2300 block of Cedar Hill Cross Rd when police clocked the vehicle by radar at 105 km/hr in the 50 km/hr zone. The 59 year old Oak Bay resident was issued a violation ticket for excessive speed carrying a $368.00 fine and his vehicle was impounded for seven days.
