Weekly Media Release for Dec. 15 – Dec. 21, 2025

The Oak Bay Police Department responded to 75 calls for service this week. 

THEFT OF GASOLINE/MISCHIEF 

On December 15th an unknown male entered the parking lot of a business in the 1200 block of Newport Ave just before midnight and siphoned gasoline from a vehicle, causing minor damage to the vehicle. (File 25-3590) 

 On December 17th a complainant reported that someone tried to siphon gas from their vehicle while it was parked in the 1400 block of Newport Ave the day before. The complainant reported seeing pry marks on their car gas port as well as an empty gas can outside their vehicle. (File 25-3603) 

 Both of these incidents remain under investigation.  

 THEFT OF VEHICLE 

 In the early morning of December 18th, a vehicle was stolen from the 700 block of Mountjoy Ave. The thief is known to the complainant. The suspect and the vehicle were located later in the afternoon by Victoria Police. The suspect was arrested for Theft of Motor Vehicle and was released on an Undertaking with a future court date. (File 25-3616) 

 ROBBERY 

 On December 21st a female described as being 5’8”, with a heavy build, and wearing all black stole a gold necklace, valued at $3000, off the neck of a 98-year-old resident in the 2000 block of Goldsmith St. The victim was not physically harmed during the robbery. Police resources from the Oak Bay Police Department and Saanich Police Department flooded the area to look for the suspect, but she was not located. The file is still under investigation.  Targeting a member of our senior community is unacceptable. Our officers—working closely with regional partners—are actively pursuing leads and reviewing all available evidence. We have connected with the victim to ensure they receive the support and resources they need during this difficult time.
