KNIFE SEIZED IN IGNITION INTERLOCK TAMPERING CASE

On December 12th, 2025, shortly after midnight, a man reported that an unknown male approached him in the upper parking lot of the Oak Bay Recreation Centre. The suspect offered $100 to blow into his ignition interlock device to start his car. When the offer was declined, the suspect brandished a knife. The victim drove to a safe location and contacted police. Officers located the vehicle and arrested the suspect. A knife was found on the passenger seat. The suspect was arrested for Assault with a Weapon and Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose. The suspect was later released with conditions not to possess weapons and a future court date. LASER INCIDENT AT FORT & FOUL BAY

On the evening of December 14th, 2025, police were dispatched to Fort Street and Foul Bay Road following a report of a woman shining a red laser at passing drivers. A witness described the woman as being in her 40s, 5’8″ tall, slim build, with shoulder-length dark hair, wearing dark clothing and carrying a white umbrella. Officers conducted patrols but were unable to locate her. Similar reports have occurred on weekends between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. (File 2025-3567)

Safety Reminder: Shining lasers at drivers is extremely dangerous. It can cause temporary blindness or distraction, increasing the risk of collisions and serious injuries. This behaviour can lead to arrest and criminal charges. Please avoid this behaviour and report any incidents immediately to police.
