The Oak Bay Police Department responded to 57 calls for service this week.
On February 23, 2023, at 12:22 pm, the Oak Bay Police Department received a report of a fraud. An Oak Bay resident reported they received a letter from the “Credit Bureau of Canada Collection Agency” advising they owed over $1600.00 for non payment on their Freedom Mobile account. The resident contacted the collection agency to report they did not have a Freedom Mobile account and had no knowledge of the non payments on the account. The collection agency directed them to contact the police and report the fraud. This investigation is ongoing. (OB 2023-467)
On February 26, 2023, at 9:20 pm, the Oak Bay Police Department received a report of a stolen vehicle from the Oak Bay Recreation Centre parking lot at 1975 Bee St. The owner of the car reported their car keys missing from an insecure storage area at the Rec Center and a short time later they discovered their car missing from the parking lot. The vehicle is a 2007 Toyota Camry, dark grey in colour, BC licence plate SL849R. This investigation is ongoing. (OB 2023-490)
