Weekly Media Release for Feb. 6 – Feb. 12, 2023

The Oak Bay Police Department responded to 73 calls for service this week.

On February 6, 2023, at 12:00pm, the Oak Bay Police responded to a report of a theft from a vehicle in the 2100 Block of Hall St. The complainant reported their vehicle was broken into sometime overnight and advised their wallet was stolen. The wallet contained approximately $200.00 in cash and several bank and credit cards. Upon further investigation, it was determined the credit cards were used in Victoria. This investigation is ongoing. (OB 2023-305)

On February 10, 2023, at 3:00pm, the Oak Bay Police Department received a report of a break and enter that occurred in the 1700 block of Elgin Rd. The complainant reported an unknown suspect climbed over the fence and into a secured compound. The suspect entered several vehicles and a building in the compound. The suspect was observed on CCTV leaving the compound with two bags. The complainant reported that several tools were taken. The value of the loss is not yet known. (OB 2023-363)

On February 10, 2023, at approximately 5:10pm, Oak Bay Police Department received a report of a break and enter that occurred in the 3000 block of Finnerty Rd. The complainant reported they found a window insecure in the building and then discovered three desktop computers, a server, and a poly-cam speaker were taken. The value of the loss is unknown at this time. This investigation is ongoing, and no suspects have been identified. (OB 2023-364)

On February 11, 2023, at 9:00am, the Oak Bay Police responded to a report of a theft from a vehicle parked in the 600 Block of St Patrick St. The complainant reported their vehicle had been broken into sometime overnight, and advised their wallet was stolen. The wallet contained several bank and credit cards. The cards were cancelled before they could be used. No suspect(s) have been identified. (OB 2023-369)
