THEFT OF E-BIKES
A Victoria man was arrested following the theft of two e‑bikes from a residential garage in Oak Bay. One of the stolen e‑bikes was recovered after being located abandoned nearby, and the second was later located in Victoria with the assistance of Victoria Police. Oak Bay Police also observed footwear impressions left in freshly poured concrete at the scene, along with tire marks consistent with e‑bikes departing the property. Forensic officers examined the impressions as evidence. The suspect was arrested for possession of stolen property and identified as a person of interest in the related break and enter investigation. FRAUD
On January 21, 2026, Oak Bay Police investigated a report of wire‑transfer fraud involving a local business owner who believed they were corresponding with their insurance provider. The victim was deceived into sending a payment after an email address associated with their legitimate insurance representative had been altered. The fraudulent transfer, valued at approximately $17,500, was later reversed after incorrect account information was provided by the suspects, and no financial loss was ultimately incurred. Police provided guidance to the victim, and the incident remains under investigation. (File 2026‑226)
