Arson

Oak Bay Police are investigating a suspicious fire in a washroom at a local secondary school on June 18, 2026, at 12:12 PM. Emergency crews responded and determined the fire had been deliberately set using combustible materials, resulting in localized fire, smoke, and water damage. Oak Bay Fire Department secured the area, and no injuries were reported. Police are working with school administration to gather information. No suspects have been identified, and the investigation remains ongoing. (File 2026-1821)

Impaired Driver

On June 20, 2026, at 9:03 PM, Oak Bay Police conducted proactive impaired driving enforcement and issued a driver a 3-day Immediate Roadside Prohibition after they failed an approved screening device test. The driver was prohibited from continuing, and alternate transportation was arranged. Police remind motorists that even small amounts of alcohol can impair driving ability. (File 2026-1850).

 Excessive Speed

On June 21, 2026, at approximately 9:55 PM, Oak Bay Police were conducting proactive speed enforcement in the 900 block of Beach Drive. A Class 7 ‘N’ driver was observed travelling 84 km/h in a posted 40 km/h zone. The driver was issued a $368 violation ticket, and the vehicle was impounded for seven days. (File 2026-1858).
