IMPAIRED DRIVING
On June 28, 2026, at approximately 10:45 p.m., Oak Bay Police conducted a roadside screening test during routine vehicle checks after detecting an odour of liquor on a driver. The driver, a Victoria resident, was issued a 90-day driving prohibition, several violation tickets, and had their vehicle impounded for 30 days after failing the test. With summer weather bringing more people onto local roads and sidewalks, police remind drivers not to operate a vehicle while impaired by alcohol or drugs. (File 2026-1950).
SUSPICIOUS PERSON
On June 27, 2026, shortly before 6:00 a.m., Oak Bay Police were called to the area of Epworth Street and Cadboro Bay Road after two people were reported looking into backyards. The individuals left the area after being noticed by a homeowner, but officers located them a short distance away. One person was found in possession of stolen property, identification, and a weapon, and now faces multiple charges. One property owner has since been reunited with their belongings. Oak Bay Police are continuing to work with neighbouring police jurisdictions on related investigations. (File 2026-1937).
CANNABIS INSIDE VEHICLE
On June 23, 2026, at approximately 12:45 p.m., Oak Bay Police received a report of a person possibly smoking cannabis in a parked vehicle near Willows Beach. Officers attended and observed cannabis packages in plain view on the dashboard. Following further investigation, the driver was issued violation tickets under the Cannabis Control and Licensing Act. Police remind drivers that cannabis must not be readily accessible to the driver or passengers while in a vehicle. (File 2026-1884).
