The Oak Bay Police Department responded to 77 calls for service this week.
Industrial Accident
On June 18th at 11:45 am, Oak Bay Police, Oak Bay Fire and BC Paramedical Services attended the area of Foul Bay Road and Oak Bay Avenue for workplace accident where a male had incurred a significant injury to his foot during road construction resulting in medical transport to hospital and a short road closure. Investigation turned over to Worksafe BC (File 25-1601)
Excessive Speeding
On the 18th of June 2025, at 10:35 pm, Oak Bay Police were conducting speed enforcement in the area of Cattle Point and Beach Drive. A motorcyclist was heard approaching the officer at high speeds and upon visual contact was found to be travelling 87 km/h in a posted 40 km/h zone. The operator was charged for excessive speeding under the motor vehicle act and the motorcycle was impounded for 7 days. (File 25-1607)
Domestic Assault
On the 20th of June 2025 at 09:20 am, the Oak Bay Police Department responded to a report of assault in the 1100 Block of Beach Drive. Police determined that a man and woman from the Naniamo area had an altercation while in a vehicle where the male was allegedly struck several times by the female passenger. The female party was arrested with charges recommended for assault and released with a court date. (File 25-1630)
Motor Vehicle Incident
On the 22nd of June 2025 at 4:50 pm Oak Bay Police responded to the area of Oak Bay High School at 2121 Cadboro Bay Road for a motor vehicle incident. Investigation revealed that a male in his 20s had been operating a licensed/insured golf cart recklessly and flipped it over resulting minor injuries to the driver and a charge issued under the Motor Vehicle Act for Drive without Consideration.
