The Oak Bay Police Department responded to 94 calls for service during the week.
Go by Bike Week
On June 2, 2025, several Oak Bay Police officers and Reserve Constables joined students and parents from Willows Elementary School to kick off Go by Bike Week. Officers escorted over 70 children riding their bicycles to school, helping to ensure a safe and fun journey. Chief Constable Julie Chanin also took part in the ride.
“It was a fantastic way to start the week, and a great reminder of how important bike safety is—especially for our youngest riders,” said Chief Chanin. “We’re proud to support events like this that promote healthy habits, build community, and keep everyone safe on the roads.”
Bicycle Theft at Oak Bay Secondary
On June 4, 2025, between 10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., a bicycle was stolen from outside Oak Bay High School. The theft was reported to police later that day.
The stolen bicycle is described as a turquoise/blue Norco Storm with several distinctive features, including a black kickstand with a pink button, yellow valve stems on the tires, and a red light mounted under the seat. The estimated replacement value is approximately $850. (File 25-1446)
