Weekly Media Release for May 26 – June 1, 2025

The Oak Bay Police Department responded to 86 calls for service during the week.

Break and Enter – Carnarvon Park
On May 27, 2025, at approximately 8:40 p.m., officers responded to an audible alarm at an outbuilding near the Lawn Bowling Club at Carnarvon Park. Police discovered pry marks on the door and cleared the building, which contained soccer equipment. The investigation is ongoing, and it is currently unknown if any items were stolen. Theft of Electric Scooter – Cadboro Bay Road
On May 29, 2025, at approximately 4:51 p.m., police received a report of a stolen electric scooter from the 2100-block of Cadboro Bay Road.
The scooter, a grey Punk Rider Pro 3-speed model valued at approximately $1,900, was reportedly secured and is believed to have been taken between 8:50 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. (File: OB2025-1366)

Impaired Driving – Excessive Speed
On May 31, 2025, at around 12:30 a.m., an officer observed a vehicle travelling at 97 km/h in a 50 km/h zone southbound on Foul Bay Road near the 2700-block. A traffic stop was conducted. The 21-year-old male driver exhibited signs of alcohol impairment. A roadside breath test resulted in a “FAIL” reading. The driver was issued a 90-day Immediate Roadside Prohibition, and the vehicle was impounded for 30 days. (File: OB2025-1382)

Mischief to Vehicle – Haultain Street
On May 31, 2025, at approximately 5:41 p.m., police responded to a report of mischief to a vehicle in the 2100-block of Haultain Street. The vehicle’s rear window had been smashed sometime between the evening of May 30 and the morning of May 31. No entry was made into the vehicle, and nothing was reported stolen. (File: OB2025-1390)
