On March 29, 2023, at 9:10 pm, OBPD Officers responded to a report mischief in the 900 block of Oliver St. A resident reported that a male ran up to their front door and kicked it. This was the second incident in the last month of someone kicking the door and running away. CCTV cameras captured both incidents. This investigation is on-going. (OB 2023-806)
On March 31, 2023, at 10:25 am, an Oak Bay Police Officer was conducting traffic enforcement patrols on Granite St. and pulled over a Dodge Caravan with no front license plate or valid insurance. The vehicle had not been insured since September 2022. The driver, who is the registered owner, was issued a Violation Ticket for No Number Plate contrary to Section 13(1)(b) MVA ($109.00), and Drive Without Insurance contrary to Section 24(3)(b) MVA ($598.00). On March 31, 2023, Oak Bay Police Department Officers targeted distracted driving offences on Oak Bay Avenue to wrap up the March Distracted Driving Campaign. Twelve violation tickets for distracted driving were issued ($368.00 plus four demerit points), as well as four fail to wear seat belt tickets ($167.00). Oak Bay Police urge drivers to buckle up and leave your phone alone.
On April 1, 2023, at 3:05 pm, the Oak Bay Police Department received a report of a theft from the Oak Bay Recreation Centre located at 1975 Bee St. The complainant reported they had their bank card stolen while they left their personal property unattended at the Recreation Centre. The stolen bank card was used fraudulently three times, totaling a loss of $358.95. The complainant contacted their bank and cancelled their bank card. This investigation is on-going. (OB 2023-837)
