The Oak Bay Police Department responded to 93 calls for service this week.
On March 27, Oak Bay members were dispatched to the area of Haultain St and Richmond Rd. to assist Saanich Police members for a report of a male waving a knife. Oak Bay members were first to arrive on scene and determined that the male was in possession of a pair of scissors. The 33 year old male was turned over to Saanich Police when they arrived on scene. On March 28, the Oak Bay Police received a report of a residential break and enter in the 1100 Block of Beach Dr. The complainant returned to find their residence broken into. The suspect(s) targeted several areas of the residence and stole personal items and jewelry. This investigation is ongoing. (OB File 22-865)
On March 28, the Oak Bay Police received a report of a theft. The complainant reported that they had set up a tent trailer at their residence located in the 3000 block of Plymouth Rd. The complainant returned to find that a Bosch corded oscillating saw had been stolen. (OB File 22-873)
On March 29th, Oak Bay members were dispatched to the 2100 block of Epworth St for a report of a motor vehicle collision. Upon arrival, Oak Bay members observed a vehicle had flipped onto its roof after colliding with a parked vehicle. The 33 year old male driver was issued a ticket for Drive Without Due Care with a fine amount of $368. (OB 22-878)
On March 29, Oak Bay Police received a report of a fraud from a student at the University of Victoria. The complainant was selling their text books online. The student was sent a picture of a cheque with funds more than they were asking for the book. The suspect requested that he transfer the additional funds to a friend who needed money. The cheque bounced and they complainant was out $150.00. (OB 22-883)
On March 29, Oak Bay Police received a report of a pedestrian struck in the intersection of Foul Bay Rd. and Cadboro Bay Rd. A 16 year old female was crossing the road when she was hit by a 38 year old female in the cross walk. The 16 year old female was treated at the scene and suffered minor cuts and bruises. The driver of the vehicle was charged with failing for yield to a pedestrian. (OB 22-887)
On April 2, the Oak Bay Police received a report of a theft from auto in the area of Monterey Ave. and Brighton Ave. The complainant reported that their pick up truck had been broken into and the contents of the glove box and centre console had been strewn all over the interior of their vehicle. It is unknown if anything was taken. (OB File 22-937)
