POLICE CAMP – YOUTH ENGAGEMENT

From March 14 to March 21, 2026, Oak Bay Police members are participating in Police Camp, a week long youth engagement program with 50 student participants. The camp provides senior secondary students with hands on exposure to policing through scenario based training, teamwork exercises, and mentorship from police officers across the region. Police Camp is supported by the Greater Victoria Police Foundation, with financial contributions from many community members that help make the program accessible and successful. Oak Bay Police are proud to support this collaborative initiative, which promotes leadership, builds understanding, and teamwork.

“Police Camp gives young people a meaningful opportunity to learn about policing, teamwork, and service to the community,” said Chief Constable Julie Chanin. “With the support of the Greater Victoria Police Foundation and our community partners, this program helps build trust, confidence, and leadership skills while giving participants a realistic introduction to policing.”
